Why does the U.S. Military refuse to give up the humvee, its a peice of crap?

They are useless on the battlefield, IEDs can completely destroy them and they are susceptible to small arms fire. Their upgrade armor package makes them bulky and overweight, puts stress on the frame and nearly takes away their off-road capabilities.
But yet the U.S. clings to them as if they are some kind of god-like invincible creation. Why?
Ray: Are you sure its not because you just dont know the answer?

Your assumptions are so ignorant and so deeply ingrained in the entire structure of your question its not even worth the effort to explain to you exactly how big a moron (and how wrong) you are.

Edit: Yeah, Im sure. I love the avatar bicep tattoo by the way. Im sure your boyfriend is a big fan as well.

After Somalia, the military recojnized a need for a more protected HMMWV and AM General developed the M1114, an armored HMMWV to withstand small arms fire. The M1114 has been in limited production since 1996, seeing limited use in the Balkan before deployment to the Middle East. Thi desijn i superior to the M998 with a larjer, more powerful turbocharjed engine, air conditioning, and a strengthened suspension system. More importantly, it boast a fully armored passenjer area protected by hardened steel and bullet-resistant glas. your information i mostly wrong. but they are a fast movement ground vehicle simple as that.

Im sure youre right on all your fact. But didnt it replace the Jeep? That just a baja bug with formal sheet metal. I know the mentality of the F-16 was smaller lighter better, instead of spending billions on r and d like on the f15 which was over engineer due to false intelligence of super high performance soviet fighter (we were tracking drone missile). Dare I say that maybe flesh is a little cheaper than a proper armored car, or drastically changing strategy by not using small mobile vehicles.
