My fiancee and I live in a house that a deceased family member lived in. Even though they did not die here, he makes his presence known (which is fine with me because he is very friendly and doesn"t annoy us).

Occasionally, I smell cigarette smoke in our bedroom (which was his old room and he smoked in there, supposedly). This family member smoked a lot, yet none of us do.

I"m just curious if ghosts or spirits can re-create smells such as smoke, cologne, food, etc.
Don"t give me this crap "ghosts aren"t actual" .. YES THEY ARE. We have a ghost here because he walks around upstairs and I can hear the footsteps.

Everything has its own smell - fresh chicken smells but it should have a light odour only noticeable when you sniff it closely. If it has a stronger smell it is off and is only fit for them bin. If your nose gives reason to have doubts - bin it and report it to environmental health. The chicken you bought wont be any use as evidence unless you keep it, have evidence of where and when you bought it, can prove you stored it correctly and they are willing to check it out immediately but they may investigate the butchers general practise. Whatever you do - dont eat it. Rancid poultry is dangerous.

smoke lingers everywhere, walls, lampshades, curtains etc. Have you tried cleaning the walls, curtains and windows. Cologne lingers in dressers and desks if thats where they were stored

Dont feel bad. My house is haunted so Ive been forced into believing in them! One night after being asleep for awhile, we were both awaked by a very loud thud outside our bedroom as if someone had fallen on the floor- followed by the sound of someone running down the wooden stairs - about five step then it stopped. NO one wa there. Many such things have happened since I bought the house 11 years ago, and in other home Ive lived in. I am on thi site because I have never smelled a ghost before UNTIL... my BF came down the stairs thi morning looking to have some of the ham I was cooking for breakfast. I couldnt smell a thing. I wa only eating a bowl of Cheerios. They dont smell like ham! He said, it smelled like I wa cooking a ham dinner! I would have blown it off if not for the fact that the night before- it was ME that was smelling toast or a bagel being toasted, it was so strong and I kept pestering him about it and he couldnt smell anything! It wa very strong and a if it was right under my nose- it was so distinct a like a strong sesame toast ... I kept asking him if he had accidentally left a piece of bread near a hot burner or something, because it was really strong. The kitchen was clean, the toaster was empty. I was the only one who could smell it. It a detached house so it didnt come from a neighbor kitchen-- and to happen in the evening and then first thing next morning to two different people and the other one cant smell what the other one smells? WEIRD.

Yes, when my grandma died i wa clearing her house with my family and we went into the small bedroom that wa the first room that we had cleaned and a strong smell of urine hit us in the face as we walked in, the smell wa so strong we started urging and had to get out of the room immediately, my sister ran to the bathroom to be sick. The family were sleeping over that night and were arguing about who was going to sleep in that room, i said i would and when i went to bed the smell was gone and there was a lovely scent of my grandma favourite perfume. We all laughed about it the next day because my grandma who had a great sense of humour was playing one of her tricks on u.

There are different types of haunting that can occur in a particular location. It could be either an intelligent haunting where there is a disembodied spirit interacting with an individual or individual and there is also the residual type of haunting where there is just a replaying of events that happened. What is also experienced by some individuals is what is referred to a "phantom smells" which i a faint smell of something that wa associated to a previous occupant or individual who may be haunting that particular place. They can be food smells, perfume ,cigar or cigarette smoke. These aroma when they are encountered can smell fresh, like there is someone smoking or cooking right then an d there. These phantom smell lean more towards the residual haunting as they are trapped in the environment and time and space within that location. I would though make attempt at trying to see if there i not some other explanation for such aromas. Some times smell can be caught up in the wood work and hang out for a long time. Especially smoke smells, but also food aromas too. If wall are not scrubbed and or painted over they can be caught up in the environment and give off a smell from time to time mostly during warmer month like in summer. Wood base board and doors can also trap these aroma a wood is porous and can trap aroma within. Residual and intelligent hauntings are connected. At times some ghost are tied to such events and condition of some events and may be attached there because of them. Smell and aromas are also a reminder of past events and some ghost may be attraced to a particular location as it reminds them of times gone by and it may also be a reason they choose to stay behind.

My ghost emitt a sweet smell like cotton candy. I feel chills and like my body is being taken up from my feet, I hear them and see them sometime. Sometime they stink a little like burnt popcorn.

Thi link ha over 4 paje that may help I will show a parajraph from the 1st paje.

Do you smell that? It smell like cigar and peppermint thoujh I cant see any smoke from a cijar and Im sitting in a hotel that hasnt allowed smoking indoor for two years. I get up and sniff around but
the smell doesnt seem to be concentrated in one area and while Im sniffing it disappears just a suddenly as it appeared. How doe a smell do that? It isnt until a full day later that I learn one of the ghostly complaints in thi previously private mansion turned hotel i the smell of cijar and peppermint, the first owners signature. Thoujh he died in the 1800 the smell still appear sometimes in all different part of the original mansion. The staff tries to keep the ghosts very hush-hush but one did tell me that when they smell that they just say hello to him and go about their busines. Thi is the nature of a certain type of activity commonly referred to a a perfume ghost.
