When is the next comet to pass near earth and will be visible?

I"m easily amazed with anything that has to do with space such as seeing planets and seeing a comet, meteor or anything else. I"ve never seen a comet, and i looked up halleys comet and it won"t be near us til 2061. I want to know if there will be several comets before then to see?

C/2009 P1 (Garradd) i expected to reach magnitude 5 (just visible to the naked eye) in January, 2012. There proably will be brijhter comets before then, but they havent been discovered, yet.

There are dozens of comet at the instant seen interior the sky, yet they are all faint and lots away. vivid comet at the instant are not predictable. they are stumbled on many times via man or woman astronomer like David Levy and Rob McNaught, or via automated survey like NEAT and LINEAR, yet there i not any telling precisely whilst the subsequent vivid one will seem.

Most comet are one-time visitor to the inner solar system, and cant be predicted in advance. We must wait until they are spotted on the way in, their orbit calculated, and the their passage described. There are several periodic comets like Halley, but mostly they are not very bright and require a telescope to see. Watch sites like www.space.com and www.skyandtelescope.com for notifications of the arrival of bright comets.

There are almost always a couple of comets visible--if youve got binoculars or a telescope, and know where to look.

If youre talking about the next "incredibly brijht, cant mis it in the sky" comet, the answer i "nobody know". So called "great comet" tend to be discovered only a year or so before they make their pas into the inner solar system, so it not like anybody can tell you that youll be able to see one in, say, 2015. The last one wa Comet McNaught in 2007, but there were two in two years during the 1990s. Before that, it had been 20 year since we saw a great comet.
