I am extremely interested in learning to understandable dream and all that, but it"s been years since I can really remember even having a dream. I sleep so soundly and deeply, and yet nothing. I sleep well and feel refreshed, but I have a really coarse time getting up to any kind of alarm (multiple loud and audible, vibrating phone, electric shock...) I have tried the usual attempts at keeping a notebook next to the bed to jot even the tiniest fragments, but nothing, not even the sensation of forgetting a dream... Help! ** On a side not, I do consider myself a happy and creative human being, not necessarily depressed in any clinical sense.

No using electronics for an hour before you sleep.

Well as others have said of course you do dream -- nightly -- but remembering them i another matter. But lets look at lucid dreaming.
I may be alone in this, but I think lucid dreaming i a bad idea.
I tried it for a time. One time I was asleep and getting closer to lucidity when I had a terrible feeling in my mind that i hard to describe -- i guess psychic pain. Long story short, I see it thi way: the subconscious is where we store all the bad thing that happen, so that we dont have to think about them constantly. When we are asleep, the subconscious plays them out. When you try to bridge consciou and subconsciou, you are saying, "I want to be aware of everything going on in my subconsciou." Sure, that sound good if youre trying to access its imagery and creativity and symbology. But what about accessing the horrors? Because they are there. The kid that beat you up mercilessly twenty years ago? He in there. You sure you want to see him?
Good luck with it.

Since you get a restful sleep you do reach the dream state in which R.E.M or dream sleep happens. So you do dream like the rest of us. I used to have the problem you are having now and if you are truly interested in dreaming you can dedicate yourself to the cause and be successful.
I suggest you continue the effort of keeping a journal.Make sure the pen and paper i next to your bed so you can jot down anything you get in the morning.
For me, telling myself I WILL REMEMBER MY DREAMS IN DETAIL IN THE MORNING helped me remember them. For you it might take a couple days or even week but be persistent and it should work.

Once you get to the place where you can remember you dream it might be hard for you but you should ,with stick-to-itivnes, be able to get it.
It takes a little training for most of u to lucid dream.
1. You can train yourself to become awake in a dream if you see a certain thing. Often in dreams clocks dont have numbers or hands on them. Book dont have words in them, and other strange things like this. An easier way to train is to tell yourself that after you see something like a clock with no hands or numbers that you will be conscious and know that you are dreaming. Self talk like this should work.

2. You can reality check yourself while you are awake and eventually it will become habit so you will do it even in your sleep. The first time you ask yourself if you are awake and you reply with a firm honest "no" you will know it worked and you can then go on to try and control the dream. Be forewarned that when you become consciou in your dream you often wake up so it might take a little time to keep your mind asleep and awake at the same time. Sometime you will have those false waking dreams where you wake up in a dream which isnt a lucid dream if you cant control it. These are false lucid dream but you are getting close.

Since you say you are not clinically depressed and cannot dream you might want to see a sleep therapist who can refer you to a dream therapist or someone like that. You might have a reason why you dont remember your dreams. For example, horrible repressed memorie that your psyche isnt ready to let you see even in your dreams might be keeping you from remembering them. Who knows?

Good luck!

You probably do dream but just dont remember them, maybe due to the stage of sleep you are awoken from. Also the amount of hours you sleep and when you fall asleep may also have an effect. If you dont sleep enough despite the fact you feel well rested or you go to bed too late, this might mes up your sleep cycle.

Everyone dreams. You do, too. You just dont remember the dreams you have and thats okay. Dreams are caused by random electronic impulses in your brain and have no meaning. Thats a fact.
