Website: When someone has already applied your idea for website

Help: I had this idea for a website that was based primarily around me writing film reviews and articles, and I"ve seen alot of other sites with same set up as what I had planned to use. My question is what do you do when someone else has already applied your idea for a website Is it better to cut your losses or push forward anyway I still see weakness in the application of the competing sites And I kinda feel like I could do it better...

The web is crowded with film review sites and most of these one-man sites will get very few views, and will merely be a source of satisfaction for the creator of the site
