First, in logo designs there are a few questions you should ask before you decide on your design.
What program are you using, is it made for creating logo designs?
Who is your target audience?
What do you want your logo to express about you personally?
These questions might seem simple, but they are important. If the program is something other than a digital rendering program (such as Illustrator or Photoshop) it might not have the capability to save your logo in the proper format, making it difficult to send digitally or print correctly.
Other than that, keep in mind that your logo should be simple enough that it can be resized (down or up) without losing a lot of detail. It should flow, so try not to have one letter hanging out in space by itself. Letters can be tricky if you think of them as letters. Try thinking of them as shapes instead, and you can bend the rules a little. Don't be afraid to experiment!!! Avoid hollow letters (outlines only), and avoid clashing colors. Keep these things in mind, and you've got it made in the shade!
