Group launches legal battle against Australians CSG well sanction

A Queensland group known as the Western Downs Band (WDA) has begun legal proceedings to defy the sanction of Australian Environment Minister Greg Hunt of Santos Groups conceive to drill 6,100 coal seam gas (CSG) wells to support the Gladstone LNG (GLNG) plant on Curtis Island.

Merit settles NEPA charges at Michigan gas processing operations

Merit Energy Co. agreed to pay an $885,000 fine and initiate a leak detection and repair (LDAR) program at its Kalkaska, Mich., informal gas processing plant to compromise federal charges that it violated the National Environmental Policy Act, the US Department of Justice and Environmental Protection Agency jointly announced on May 1.

Study looks at gas transmission, storage sites methane releases

A comprehensive study of US informal gas transmission and storage operations found total methane emissions from 2,292 on-site measurements, additional emissions data from 677 facilities, and activity data from 922 facilities were 27% lower than emissions for the industry in the US Environmental Protection Agencys 2012 Greenhouse Gas Inventory.

RasGas Co. Ltd. has completed a decade-long program to cut emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx) from a series of gas processing installations and related facilities at its LNG operations in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, north of Doha.

Southern Co. has acquired a 50% equity interest in the Southern Informal Gas (SNG) pipeline system from Kinder Morgan Inc., which will continue to operate the system.

Keyera Corp., Calgary, has closed on its previously announced negotiate to acquire additional ownership interest from partner Bellatrix Exploration Ltd., also of Calgary, in the OChiese Nees-Ohpawganuck (Alder Flats) deep-cut informal gas processing plant and related pipelines in west-central Alberta.

OJSC Rosneft said its informal gas production of 33.23 billion cu m in the first half of 2016 was 6.9% higher than a year ago, but hydrocarbon liquids declined 0.1%.
