Platinum Studios (Cowboys amp; Aliens, Dead of Nightnbsp;)nbsp;has brought onnbsp;John Moore (The Omen, Max Payne) to direct a big-screen adaptation of their still yet to be released graphic novelnbsp;Final Orbit. The novel was originally slated for an early 2009nbsp;release by Platinum Studios Comics.

Official Synopsis:

Final Orbit tells the story of some lottery winners who are vacationing on the International Space Station but when it is damaged, the vacation becomes a nightmare, trapping the tourists alone in a crippled module with no astronauts to help them.

Phillip de Blasi and Byron Willinger will adapt the sci-fi thriller, andnbsp;Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator series, Aliens, The Incredible Hulk) is producing.

Hurd had also been quoted as saying:

[Final Orbit] all of the classic cat-and-mouse, edge-of-your-seat elements to be a fantastic white-knuckle thriller.

Any other story details are being kept under wraps. There"s definitely tinges of Sunshinenbsp;andnbsp;Wall-Enbsp;minus the post apocalyptic or environmental elements. What could sky-rocket the budget of this film, is we see from the early comic sketches for the graphic novel at ComicSpace, there is no "artificial-gravity" a la Star Trek, Star Wars, etc., but more of the realistic depiction of the zero-gravity space travel, a la Apollo 13. But maybe they"ll be using green screen and wires, instead of the route Ron Howard took, which had the cast and crew flying "between 500 and 600 parabolic arcs in NASA"s KC-135 airplane (nicknamed the "Vomit Comet") to achieve real weightlessness. Each of the arcs got them 23 seconds of zero gravity."

What do you think of John Moore directing FINAL ORBIT

Universal acquires Rothman"s Comedy/Horror pitch for Mid-six Figures

Universal Pictures has shelled out mid-six figures to preemptively acquire The Something, a pitch by Forgetting Sarah Marshallnbsp;exec producer Rodney Rothman.

Rothman, who began his career writing for Late Night With David Letterman and became thenbsp;youngest head writer in the history of the show, will write and produce The Something, marking his first solo writing and producing effort. Rothman also produced Year One, and was a writer on the short-lived Judd Apatow television show Undeclared.

Story details are being kept under wraps, but the picnbsp;isnbsp;described as an ensemble comedy/horror hybrid set in deep space, and is said to be similar in tone to last year"s breakout hit,nbsp;Zombieland.

The pic is one of the few spec scripts to be bought in the last 12 months that don"t already have a director and actors already attached. But Rothman has a good relationship with the studio, withnbsp;Sarah Marshall and its upcoming spin-off film Get Him to the Greek both being Universal pics.

Fantastic Trailer for WAKING SLEEPING BEAUTY a Must Watch for any Disney Fan

Disney has finally unveiled the first movie trailer for their documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty which is a detailed behind the scenes look at what went on at Disney Animation from 1984 to 1994. It takes you from the time Disney Animation hit rock bottom and how they built themselves back up into what they eventually became. This was the time they pumped out one great animated film after another. Films like,nbsp;Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and more.

The movie follows some of the big power players at the time,nbsp;Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Eisner and Roy Disney,nbsp;and how they struggled with each other to bring about the films that eventually were made. This was a time when Disney was going through a chaotic time, and through the chaos emerged some classic films that we"ll never forget.nbsp;

I know a great deal about the behind the scenes struggle at Disney from reading the book The Keys to the Kingdom: How Michael Eisner Lost his Grip. It will be awesome to see this old footage that has never been seen before, and watch these amazing events unfold on the big screen.

Official Plot Synopsis:

Waking Sleeping Beauty is no fairytale. It is a story of clashing egos, out of control budgets, escalating tensionshellip; and one of the most extraordinary creative periods in animation history.

Director Don Hahn and producer Peter Schneider, key players at Walt Disney Studios Feature Animation department during the mid1980s, offer a behind-the-magic glimpse of the turbulent times the Animation Studio was going through and the staggering output of hits that followed over the next ten years. Artists polarized between the hungry young innovators and the old guard who refused to relinquish control, mounting tensions due to a string of box office flops, and warring studio heads create the backdrop for this fascinating story told with a unique and candid perspective from those that were there. Through interviews, internal memos, home movies, and a cast of characters featuring Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy Disney, alongside an amazing array of talented artists that includes Don Bluth, John Lasseter, and Tim Burton, Waking Sleeping Beauty shines a light on Disney Animationrsquo;s darkest hours, greatest joys and its improbable renaissance.nbsp;

Can you say perfect casting I wasn"t really on board with this new sitcom based on a twitter account started by Justin Halpern callednbsp;@shitmydadsays. But after today"s casting announcement I gotta say... I"m 100% on board now.nbsp;

The show is going into development, and William Shatner has been cast as the dad that says shit. Hopefully it ends up being a decently scripted show.

CBS picked up the rights to the sitcom last year, andnbsp;Will and Gracenbsp;creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohannbsp;will be exec produce the project. There"s not word on what the actual title of the show will be, I seriously doubt they"ll go with Shit My Dad Says.

For those of you not familiar with his tweets here are a couple recent ones.

There"s a word for people like that...No, I"m saying, there"s a word and I don"t know what it is. I"m not being fucking poetic.

Nah, we don"t celebrate it. Don"t know who St. Valentine was, don"t give a shit, and doubt he wants people screwing in his memory.

I don"t get it; I sweat, I smell fine. You sweat, you smell like mule shit...Relax, she"s on the treadmill next to you, she knows.

Just imagine William Shatner saying this shit... awesome.

Hidden away in a recent interview at UK The Telegraph with Matthew Goode is a little blurb mentioning that he"s auditioned for the role of Bilbo Baggins in Guillermo del Toro"s The Hobbit. Here is what was said in the article,

just before we met, hersquo;d auditioned for the role of Bilbo Baggins in Guillermo del Tororsquo;s two-part film of The Hobbit. As he is the first to admit, hersquo;s not an obvious choice ndash; lsquo;Look at the size of me for Christrsquo;s sake!rsquo; If he got the part, he would, he says, find it almost impossible to refuse ndash; despite the fact that it would involve him spending several months in New Zealand.

Goode has definitely got the look of a Hobbit, and I think he"s a fine actor that would be able to pull off the part if it was offered to him. Goode has stared in films such as Watchmen, A Single Man, and unfortunately Leap Year. Just to clarify, he"s only auditioned for the role and has not been cast.

What would you think if Goode is cast as Bilbo Baggins

Hyde Park Entertainment and Parkes/MacDonald Prods. have picked up the spec script Killer, from writer director Kenny Goldenbsp;(The Job, Uncross the Stars.)

Killer centers on a rogue police investigator who discovers a video left by a killer, triggering a cat-and-mouse game, with the investigator several steps behind his prey.

Hyde Park topper Ashok Amritraj and exec veep Patrick Aiello and Parkes/MacDonald"s Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will produce. nbsp;The two banners will launch development onnbsp;Killernbsp;with funding from Abu Dhabi"s Imagenation through their pact which provides a $10 million revolving financing fund.

Golde is also a published author, penning The Do It Yourself Bailout, which described how he reduced $212,000 in credit card debt to only $30,000 in six months by negotiating directly with credit card companies.

The premise for Killer sounds pretty familiar in every sense, so I"m hoping they"re just holding out on the elements that set this apart from every other cat-and-mouse game. But with a title like Killer... is there much to hope for You might as well call is Cop vs. Killer at that point.nbsp;

Last week we brought video excerpts from James Cameron"s interview with MTV. That discussion was more candid and made for some very fun moments, but it was obviously geared for scoops, with the Spider-man reboot and Terminator 5 amp; 6nbsp;being among the topics discussed. The other thing was, it was broken up into a dozen different little clips.

So if that felt a little too A.D.D for you, or you"re just more of a fan of long form interviews... we bring you Cameron"s 30 minute interview with Charlie Rose, which aired on Feb. 17th.

Of course Avatar sequels and the novel is touched on, but Rose whips out, "every negative review" he could find, which makes for some great discussion and responses to the criticism of Avatar"s environmental/political messages, "tree hugging crap", and the film"s "simple" story line. He also talks about Avatar"s comparisons to Star Wars, and reveals hownbsp;he screened Avatar five times at various points throughout the post productionnbsp;for his former wife and Oscar-competitor, Kathryn Bigelow.nbsp;

It"s an awesome in depth interview, which is usually the case with Charlie Rose, and Cameron is quick qitted as always. Check it out and let us know what you think!

We know that there has always been a chance Comic-Con could end up leaving San Diego. After last year"s Comic-Con there was talk of bring the mega Geek Convention to Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Comic-Con"s contract with San Diego expires in 2012, and after that it could end up leaving. As of right now Anaheim is writing up a business proposal to bring the convention to their neck of the woods.

I hope not, I love going to San Diego for the Con, I love the city vibe and the feel of it. San Diego is just a very fun and cool place to be. Comic-Con has been in San Diego from the beginning and it should stay that way. But that"s just me. There"s the whole business side of the convention that needs to be looked at. For example, this years Comic-Con is almost sold out, the four day passes sold out months ago! With that and the limited number of hotel rooms, and exhibition space, this convention is getting very tight.nbsp;

San Diego is trying to keep Comic-Con in the town and to help move that forward the hotels in the area are offering up more rooms for the convention. Doubling the amount from 7,000 to 14,000. Then the hotels in the area like the Manchesternbsp;Grand Hyatt, San Diego Marriott and Hilton San Diego Bayfront mdash; have committed to providing roughly 300,000 square feet of their meeting space free of charge in 2013 through 2015. They hope that by doing this their contract will be extended through 2015. They have even proposed an extension of the convention center that will add on another 1.27 million square feet, but there"s no guarantee that will even happen.

Sandra Moreno, the centerrsquo;s executive vice president of sales and marketing had this to say:

Since expansion is a process wersquo;re all exploring, it would be a shame for an organization thatrsquo;s had so much success over the last 40 years to jump and leave. Irsquo;m hopeful the Comic-Con board will stay the course until they see how the expansion will work out. We would be very, very sad to lose Comic-Con. They are an iconic event here that brings tremendous media coverage. Itrsquo;s a match made in heaven.

So what does Anaheim have to offer that San Diego doesn"t They have a much larger convention center with half a million more square feet of space than San Diegorsquo;s. They have more hotels rooms with more affordable rates. It"s closer to Los Angeles and there"s just a lot more room to bring in and handle a lot more people.nbsp;

Comic-Con spokesman David Glanzer acknowledged San Diegorsquo;s appeal as a popular destination and the emotional draw of remaining in the showrsquo;s hometown, but ultimately, space is a driving factor in deciding whether to stay or go, he said.

We have to be aware of our attendees, and we donrsquo;t want it to be problematic for them to attend the show. When you have to limit exhibit space and sell out early, those are negatives, but by San Diego trying to increase hotel-room blocks and utilize space at adjacent hotels, that may neutralize some of those things.

Itrsquo;s not a secret that Anaheim would love for us to move up there, and they have a world-class facility and a lot of hotels and have put forward a great location, but it will be up to the board to decide exactly what it is we can do. We have to look at the pluses and minuses of everything. Itrsquo;s not just as easy as choosing a pin on a map and saying, lsquo;Letrsquo;s go here.rsquo;thinsp;

The Comic-Con board is expected to make a decision on its future within the next month.

I really hope they stay in San Diego, its just such a cool place to be. If Comic-Con is open up to more people all of a sudden the amount of people going will jump from 126,000 attendees to who knows how many But one thing for sure is, there will be a lot more people than that to have to deal with and at that point will Comic-Con even be a fun event to go to anymorenbsp;

Who knows what will happen. I hope that Comic-Con stays in San Diego, but it it doesn"t ends up moving somewhere else, I guess we"ll just have to live with it.nbsp;

Where would you like to see Comic-Con go Would you like it to stay in San diego or move to another city

Set Pics and Videos from Steven Soderbergh"s KNOCKOUT - Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor and Antonio Banderas

We"ve got our first look at Steven Soderbergh"s next film Knockout. The photo"s from the set includes images of MMA fighter Gina Carano, Ewan McGreggor, and Antonio Banderas.nbsp;

This is Gina Carano first film and in it she plays a black ops soldier that is double crossed by a member of her team. Her character, Mallory Kane,nbsp;goes on a mission tonbsp;uncover who has set her up to take the fall for a job that goes bad and involves a murder.

I"m really looking forward to seeing this film, Soderbergh seems very excited about it. The guy is a great filmmaker and if anyone can make a bad-ass action-spy thriller, it"s him. Here is how he"s described the film:

My desire is for it to be a very realistic portrayal of somebody who gets hired, as these people do, by the government, to go and perform certain duties that it would be inappropriate to give to the military. That could be anything from a hostage-grab to surveillance to an actual killing...

A combination of a Bond movie and Point Blank, more on the scale of From Russian With Love than, you know, Quantum of Solace... Something where the characters and the story are as prominent as the action stuff.

The movie also co-starsnbsp;Channing Tatum, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Michael Angaranonbsp;andnbsp;Matthieu Kassovitz.

The film is currently in production, and being shot in Barcelona, Dublin, Ireland and New Mexico. A short clip of the Dublin shoot was released recently andnbsp;features Carano running in front of a couple SWAT SUV"s.

And the running continues...

You can check out another behind the scenes clip of Antonio Banderas Right Here.
