Charming Trailer for Arranged Marriage Romantic Comedy WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? Starring Lily James and Shazad Latif

>

A new trailer and poster have been released for the charming romantic comedy Whats Love Got to Do With It?, starring Emmy-winner Lily James (Baby Driver, Pam & Tommy), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery), Shabana Azmi (Halo), Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson (Love Actually, Matilda), Sajal Aly (Yakeen Ka Safar), Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), Jeff Mirza (Eternals) and Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as himself.

The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth) from a script written by Jemima Khan.

Heres the films synopsis:

How do you find lasting love in todays world? For documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr. Wrongs, to her abnormal mother Caths (Emma Thompson) dismay. For Zoes childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents example and opt for an arranged (or assisted) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.

This looks like a really good movie! I love the cast and the story, and I look forward to watching it. Check out the trailer and poster for the film below, and watch Whats Love Got to Do With It? in theaters nationwide on May 5th.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni Talk About What They Had to Consider When Naming Grogu For THE MANDALORIAN

>

The Mandalorian has been one of the most popular and exciting series on the Disney+ streaming service. Its also one of the best Star Wars projects to have come around in a while. One of the coolest parts of the series is that in both Season 1 and Season 2, the creators were competent to grasp a major secret from the viewers, and they were both awesome and exciting when they were revealed.

Season 2 was the return of Luke Skywalker who came in to save the day and take Grogu to train him. And Season 1 was the introduction of Grogu himself, first referred to by fans as Baby Yoda.

These were both difficult to pull off, but especially the first surprise, not letting fans see the little one until the show began. Most series would have let fans get pumped up and excited about this adorable and highly marketable mood, but the series creators really wanted him to be a surprise, and it was a really fun one. But when everyone saw the series premiere, right before the holidays in 2019, there werent any Baby Yodas on the shelf for Christmas, and that was a major snafu.

Alas, it has worked itself out, and Grogu is marketed now as he should be, for all fans and kids to enjoy, but it was a difficult road to get where we are. In a recent interview with StarWars.com (via CB), The Mandalorians showrunners, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, opened up about the struggles that came with naming the mood.

Filoni explained:

"It was good to have Ahsoka there cause shes a good balancing point ... Mando at first reacted like the audience. Grogu? Thats strange. But when he says it, Grogu looks at him. And I always related that to when I have a dog and the dog starts to learn its designate. You say its designate, it looks at you, its the most heartwarming thing. And so when you see that he recognizes his designate and that until Ahsoka says his designate, that he probably hasnt heard it in a long time its like, how could you reject that?"

Favreau added:

"Thats the thing with Grogu. Hes like part-dog, part-human, part-reptile. Hes a big mixture of everything... And also as he gets older, he wont outgrow the designate. Its not a cute little designate and then, you know, hes as old as Yoda and he still has a weird, cute designate. Sparky. You know, you dont want to be Sparky and be like 600 years old. It was also coarse because no matter what we named him, it wasnt going to be it couldnt be Baby Yoda."

Favreau also talked about revealing "The Child" in the first episode and creating the characters look.

"You have a responsibility for Star Wars, to George [Lucas] and to Kathy [Kennedy] and to the people who brought me in. And the audience. Theyre invested in these characters. And you have young people who are growing up with the characters and what they represent. You feel very protective of that, and trying to grasp as high of a standard as you can. I think those moments the Baby Yoda announce was very organic to the story. And just the idea of surprising to make it a bit of a left turn to peoples expectations that this was going to be a guy runnin and gunnin through the galaxy. That was a nice intertwine. And Im really happy that [everyone] supported us keeping that a secret. We put the audience experience first there."

He continued:

"Hes cute, but hes a little ugly. Hes ugly-cute ... Hes adorable because hes not perfect. Hes got the cheeks, but hes got like weird little pointy teeth and hes got weird peach fuzz. In our conceive, when he looked too cute, he didnt look right. We found that right balance."

Theyve done a great job endearing Grogu to the masses. He is a beloved piece of Star Wars history and pop culture, and we cant wait to see how his story plays out.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian are available on Disney+, and season 3 is currently airing.

Lord Drakkon returns this summer and hes got some new friends. BOOM! Studios recently announced Power Rangers Unlimited: The Coinless, a new 40-page one-shot comic. Written by Adam Cesare (Jim Hensons The Dark Crystal) with art by Moisés Hidalgo (Dark Blood), colors by Arthur Hesli (Heavy Metal Magazine), and letters by Ed Dukshire, The Coinless will see Drakkon return and create a new team of Power Rangers. This is going to be incredible!

As if the medium-spanning, fan-favorite villain Drakkon wasnt enough of a threat, Mistress Vile has special plans of her own ones that will bring the Rangers greatest foe into our world! But this scheming isnt without consequences for Drakkon, and hell have to take a page from Zordons book if he wants the world of The Coinless to survive.

Talking about writing the comic, Cesare shared:

I got to toil in the world of the Power Rangers once before, a concise story way back during Shattered Grid, and Ive wanted back in ever since. And to get to help tell this story? Drakkon assembling a new team of rangers? And the Coinless world is super messed up so the storytellings coloring with shades of George Romero and Irate Max? And Moises Freakin Hidalgo? Come on. This is incredible.

Hidalgo added:

Coming back to toil with Power Rangers and Boom! Studios is such a special thing for me. As another Chilean (Pedro Pascal) says This is the way. Adams scripts are really fantastic, and its a joy to draw each page. We are all doing our best toil for all fans of the Power Rangers universe.

Im extremely psyched for this one-shot! The world of the Coinless has been really fascinating to me and I cannot wait to return. You can read The Coinless on June 28 from your local comic shop or wherever you like to buy comics. The main cover art is by fan favorite Dan Mora with variants from Goñi Montes and Stephanie Hans also available.

Elizabeth Olsen Talks About What Shed Like to See in Scarlet Witchs Future and Hopes for Some Redemption

>

Elizabeth Olsens Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch has had such a cool mood arc throughout the MCU, starting with a post-credits scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with her story filling out in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and bringing us through the films all the way to Disney+s Marvel kickoff, and one of the best MCU series, WandaVision. Then we really got to see what the Scarlet Witch could do in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, when Wanda turned full-on bad guy and fought to get her parallel universe kids back, no matter the cost.

That brings us up to where we left off with the mood, at the end of Multiverse of Madness, where she was defeated by Strange, backing down in the realization that she didnt want to be the villain she had become. So where do we go from here with Wanda? What does her future entail? If Elizabeth Olsen has anything to say about it, she will be back, and Wanda will have a redemptive storyline, maybe even with some humor added in.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant at the SXSW film festival, Olsen explained her hopes for the mood, saying:

We can do anything with her now! I feel like weve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like theres a lot more humor to be had with her. Shes often the emotion of a story, and Im curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.

I really hope to see her mood redeemed as well. It would be amazing to give her some peace and joy after all shes been through. Shes lost her brother, her love, her kids, all of them seemingly multiple times! I hope we can see her happy again.

Where would you like to see Wanda Maximoff end up in the upcoming MCU stories?

Youre Not Crazy, Movies Are Getting Darker and Harder to Understand

>

How often do you sit down to watch a movie and then find the experience frustrating? It happens a lot for me, especially with newer movies. Either it can be really hard to see what is happening on screen (remember that Game of Thrones fiasco?) or it can be difficult to understand what anyone is saying or both! If youve felt that way, youre definitely not alone. I was perusing YouTube recently and came across a couple of videos from Vox that help explain what the heck is going on.

First, were going to talk about movies being darker. In the video essay by Ed Vega, they explore whats changed. One of the big reasons movies are getting darker is because of how theyre being recorded. More and more movies are being filmed digitally instead of with physical film. This shift has allowed for various changes in filmmaking such as not needing to put a lot of light in scenes to make sure that the film in the cameras can catch the scene. This means that the extra darkness is what the filmmakers are intending for us to see. The video goes into much more detail and is less than 7 minutes long, so I highly recommend watching it.

Next, lets take a quick detour to discuss why this darkness can really be frustrating. In short, the answer is that no two screens are the same. Filmmakers use professional monitors calibrated to meet their exact needs. Also, most of those filmmakers are most likely working to make their films look best in theaters that use fancy projectors and screens. They also have typical lighting environments. When you watch something at home, you probably dont have a professional monitor, perfectly calibrated TV, exact lighting environment planned for, etc. The movies are not typically designed to be watched at home and they cant account for every different TV; there are way too many for that to be a reasonable expectation. You can settle the settings on your TV though and calibrate it using various tools and that may help. If youre advantageous and have a new TV, you may just have the Filmmaker Mode that you can use to get your TV as close as it can be to how the filmmaker wants the movie to be seen. Heres more from Phil Edwards of Vox.

Finally, lets talk about the audio in movies. I find that a lot of dialogue in more modern movies sounds muffled and hard to understand. Its also a lot quieter than action scenes. You turn your speakers up to hear the dialogue, but are then deafened by an explosion. Or you cant hear the characters because of all the gunfire in an action scene. This is frustrating and has led many people to start turning subtitles on for all their content just so they know whats going on. Vega explored this character of films as well and talked with a professional dialogue editor, Austin Olivia Kendrick, about this. What weve necessary is that advances in technology and microphones have basically led to this. Lav mics are easy to hide and typically allow for more natural sounding and feeling dialogue. However, this also means that actors dont have to project as much. In addition, sound is mixed differently for a theater, with 128 tracks for Dolby Atmos. However, home theater systems arent designed for that many. Home setups usually only have between two (stereo) to seven channels and sometimes with an additional sub channel. That means that those 128 tracks have to be condensed into much fewer tracks. Basically, you can buy better speakers and hope they help, see if your speakers or TV have speech enhancing technology, or just abandon those subtitles on.

James Mangold Once Again Confirms That Hes Writing and Directing SWAMP THING for DC Studios

>

There have been multiple reports already about James Mangold developing a Swamp Thing movie for James Gunn and Peter Safrans DC Studios. The filmmaker previously confirmed his involvement with the project, but now he is talking about it for the first time and saying that hes going to write and direct it.

The big question is, what will come first? Swamp Thing or the Star Wars project that was recently announced. He doesnt know! Right now, hes working on writing both of them simultaneously. Well just have to wait and see what ends up moving forward first. I predict it depends on what studio is ready to pull the trigger first. He said in the video below:

Well see what comes to fruition first. The truth is Im writing both right now and who knows whats going to happen and whats going to blossom first or second Im acknowledging Im doing Swamp Thing Its not a rumor, its happening.

James Gunn also shared a tweet confirming the news as well saying: Of course when we started charting the course for the DCU one of the first people I talked to was the super talented James Mangold about writing and directing his fervor project Swamp Thing.

Mangold is a big fan of Swamp Thing, and this has been a film project that hes been chasing for a while. Gunn previously said of the film project: Because we want to point out that these stories, although theyre interconnected, theyre not all totally the same. So each set of filmmakers brings their own aesthetic to these films. And the fun is seeing how these totally different works will mash-up in the future. So it investigates the dark origins of swamp thing So, totally very different than Superman or Batman or Robin etc.

It was also explained that the mood will also interact with the mainstream DC characters. The DC Universes first phase, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature several different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Fearless, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
