Heres an amusing and cool sci-fi short film for you to watch titled Uprising. In it, humanity is being tea-bagged, kill-shotted, and yo-mama-joked out of existence by robots who think theyre teenage gamers.

Uprising was directed by Ben Hansford and it stars John Gemberling, Meaghan Rath, and Ramona Young. Here are some additional details:

Gaming super-nerd Bernie Meckler is having the worst day of his life. Hes just failed to woo his secret esteem, his roomies have begun their online tourney without him, and oh yeah the robot apocalypse has just begun. Now Bernie must survive hordes of murderous Hellbots, packs of driverless Priuses, and his numerous physical inadequacies to hopefully save the world.

I had a lot of fun watching this movie and not only does it deliver some good laughs, but it also features some pure CGI effects labor. Check it out!

TED Ed has released a fascinating video that takes an informative deep dive into the field of cryobiology and it explores the possibility of humans being frozen and preserved so they can be resurrected in the future. This has always been a crazy concept to think about!

I remember growing up and hearing rumors that Walt Disneys head was frozen so that he could be brought back to life one day. As a kid that was the most mind-bending and insane thing I ever heard!

In 1967, James Bedford had a conceive to cheat death. He was the first person to be cryogenically frozen. This process promised to endure his body until a theoretical future when humanity could cure any illness, and essentially, reverse death. So is it possible to freeze a human, endure them indefinitely, and then thaw them out?

HBO Max has released the trailer for the upcoming comedy special Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me. In the trailer, he cracks jokes about Chris Rock, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith, and he tells the jokes as someone who personally knows all of the people involved.

Marlon Wayans said in a statement: "Im excited to be back in business with HBO Max. Weve had a lot of success with my last two specials so this will be great. I know HBO Max and the sophisticated team of executives are notorious for being true tastemakers and snobs of comedy, so I am flattered that they found this special to be special."

The special was filmed at the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, where Wayans delivers a hilarious hour-long performance, unleashing his spot-on impressions and daring physical comedy to address one of the most infamous recent events in pop culture the slap that took place at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony." 

With his inimitable blunt and boisterous style, Wayans skillfully weaves anecdotes from his own life with stories about his long-time friends, from divulging his teenage crush on Jada Pinkett Smith, getting humbled by Chris Rock in an early stand-up set, and examining the impact of Will Smiths long career. A daring tour-de-force, this special is a hysterical yet thoughtful exploration of friendship, family, mistakes, and redemption."

Producer J.J. Abrams and Chief Pictures have been having a super rough time trying to get a fourth Star Trek movie off the ground. Theyve been picking away at it for years, and it came close to happening a couple of times, but then nothing ever came of it.

Back in 2022, Star Trek director and producer Abrams shared: We are thrilled to say that we are hard at labor on a new Star Trek film that will be shooting by the end of the year that will be featuring our original cast and some new characters that I think are going to be really fun and exciting and help take Star Trek into areas that youve just never seen before.

Matt Shakman (WandaVision) was set to lead the film, but he ended up dropping out to develop Marvels Fantastic Four. Star Trek 4 was then removed from Paramounts release schedule. So, the film didnt make it into production by the end of 2022.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Chris Pine opened up about his career and the type of roles that he takes on. He also talked about Star Trek 4 and said that he still hasnt heard anything about the project. He shared that In Star Trek land, the actors are usually the last people to find out anything. Pine says that the way all of this works is frustrating, but thats just how things go with these big franchises.

Esquire then followed up with Abrams on the film and he offered an update. He said that he still hasnt found a new director for the movie, but added that its the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first one.

Well, its good to hear that they have a story that they are excited about telling. It would be really nice to see a compelling Star Trek movie again. Im sure one day another Star Trek movie will be released, but who knows when that will happen? While we wait, theres plenty of great Star Trek content to be found on Chief+!

As for what Pine thinks about the franchise, he said, I esteem the character. I esteem the people. I esteem the franchise.

Dan Harmons upcoming animated series Krapopolis hasnt even been released yet, but Fox must be pretty happy with what theyve seen from it because they just renewed it for a third season. Its rare for a network to do something like this, so they must be impressed and confident in it.

Krapopolis is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters that try their hand at running the worlds first cities without trying to kill each other, that is.

It was also announced that the network moved the debut to the 2023-24 season. The series was originally supposed to premiere in May. Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming at Fox, said in a statement: The 2023-24 season is the perfect launching pad for this highly anticipated and very funny animated comedy, complete with multiple seasons of epic laughs for fans. The more we see from production, the more excited we are about their creativity, story arcs, flawless execution, brilliant voice cast, and ability to pump out episode after episode of astonishing events and outrageous, unexpected hilarity.

The series features the voices of Richard Ayoade, Hannah Waddingham, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell.

Ayoade voices Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess. Hes the benevolent King of Krapopolis, trying to make do in a city that lives up to its designate.

Waddingham plays Deliria, Tyrannis mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family forged in patricide and infidelity shes known as the trashy one.

Berry is Shlub, Tyrannis father, a mantitaur half centaur (horse + human), half manticore (lion + human + scorpion). He is oversexed and underemployed, claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of that word, for his entire life.

Murphy voices Stupendous, Tyrannis half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops.

Trussell plays Hippocampus, Tyrannis half-brother, offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.

The voice cast of the series also includes Dove Cameron, Tara Strong and Alanna Ubach are recurring, with Susan Sarandon, Will Forte, Michael Urie, Jane Lynch, Amber Stevens West, Yvette Nicole Brown and Dave Franco as guest stars.

The first episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 has arrived and fans seem to be loving what it offers! This is just a fun true Star Wars adventure and this next season is shaping up to take us on quite an exciting journey.

According to series director and producer Rick Famuyiwa, everything has been building up to this season, its a culmination of Star Wars plans that Jon Favreau has been planning. Famuyiwa teased that it will payoff the "seeds" that have been planted back to the first season.

In a recent interview with Deadline Famuyiwa explained;

"The storytelling that Jon [Favreau] has been spearheading from the very beginning has been slowly, each season, each project, chief us to this. Chief us to the third season," Famuyiwa said. "And so I think there are a lot of seeds that are planted that are growing and culminating in this season, so I feel thats partly the feeling the sense of things culminating. This really feels like a third act in some ways, even though theres lots of stories to tell.

"But thats the feeling that I have: you feel like youve been on a journey with these characters, and that journey is certainly coming to a head this season."

Im so excited to see how this story continues to play out and see the payoffs of the seeds that have been planted. But, Im sure its going to be great! Favreau also recently talked about writing the series:

"We have to know where were going to tell a fully-formed story. We had mapped it out, Dave [Filoni] and I, and then slowly, you just write each episode. Because all of it has to feel like a continuation and one full story. Then hes doing Ahsoka, which Im producing with him, but hes the writer-showrunner on that. And so to understand whats happening on other shows, or even Skeleton Crew, all take place in the same Star Wars time period."

When talking about plotting out this epic Star Wars story, he added: "Theres a lot more things that we have to detain in mind and stuff that weve built up to in previous seasons of The Mandalorian, as well."

The current third season sees the journey of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu continue as their adventure takes them to Mandalore where Mando hopes that he will be "forgiven for his transgressions." It also sees Mando stepping into a leadership position, and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) dealing with the disappointment of not taking back the Darksaber.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

Season 3s directorial lineup includes returning filmmakers Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with Star Wars newcomers Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison.

Not a whole lot of information has been revealed regarding director Matt Reeves DC sequel The Batman - Part II, but we do know that it has been confirmed under the James Gunn and Peter Safran-run DC Studios umbrella, and its coming in 2025.

The only cast member that had been confirmed up to this point was Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but now, we know that Andy Serkis will also be back as the butler at Wayne Manor, Alfred. In a recent interview with GQ, profiling Serkis career, Matt Reeves dropped in to talk about the actors abilities:

He is a genius. I remember when I signed on to The Batman, one of the first decisions I made, I said, Andy, I want you to play Alfred, and I want to make it really emotional. Because I want people to see your face not some avatar and to understand truly what an incredible actor you are. 

Reeves confirmed in the interview that Serkis would return in his forthcoming sequel to The Batman. Serkis is also playing the villain in the film Luther, which is currently in theaters and will hit Netflix on March 10th. Next up, aside from The Batman - Part II, Serkis would like to focus on directing, producing, and theatre. He told GQ:

I dont have a burning craving to play [anyone]. What I do want is to go back to the stage. Thats one thing I want to do for sure and Im terrified of it. 

Whatever Serkis does, I know he will be successful at it! Hes a great actor, and Im glad to see him return to The Batman.

Pluto TV has been having some pretty awesome launches lately. Persist week, the streaming service added the rank new channel Pluto TV ROCKY which is playing the Rocky movies for free. This is a marginal run channel though so dont dawdle too much. Persist week also saw the launch of Sailor Moon channel which is airing all 200 episodes of The Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon and The Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Crystal. The channel is also streaming the movies including The Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon R: The Movie, The Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon S: The Movie, and The Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Super S: The Movie. If youre a fan of Sailor Moon, this is a pretty great chance to watch the series for free. Grasp in mind that Pluto TV functions a lot like normal TV in that you pick a channel and just watch whats on instead of playing the exact episodes you want. I personally enjoy this format sometimes.

Then, this week, the MST3K channel on Pluto TV started bringing season 13 of Mystery Science Theater 3000 to the table. All 13 episodes will be available for free on the live channel alongside all 12 previous seasons. You can also use the on demand feature to watch the episodes you want.

This marks the first time the season will be available outside the Gizmoplex, the indie streaming platform created exclusively for new and classic episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Fans can now board the Satellite of Love and join janitor Joel Robinson and his robot friends, Tom, Crow, and Gypsy, as irate scientists (AKA The Mads) force them to watch terrible movies and riff on them, offering hilarious commentary.

This April, its time for viewers to relive memories of a fictional advice columnist with the Hulu Original marginal series Tiny Beautiful Things. The series is based on the best-selling collection of the same designate by Cheryl Strayed. A struggling writer finds her life falling apart and when she reluctantly takes over an advice column, she is thrown back into powerful memories from her life. The series sounds very intense and it looks good if youre looking for a new potentially heartwarming drama to watch.

When we first meet Clare, her marriage to her husband Danny is barely limping along; her teenage daughter, Rae, is pushing her away; and her once-promising writing career is non-existent. So when an old writing pal asks her to take over as the advice columnist Dear Sugar, she thinks she has no business giving anyone advice. After reluctantly taking on the mantle of Sugar however, Clares life unfurls in a complex fabric of memory, exploring her most pivotal moments from childhood through present day, and excavating the beauty, struggle, and humor in her unhealed wounds. Through Sugar, Clare forms a salve for her readers - and for herself - to show us that we are not beyond rescue, that our stories can ultimately save us. And, perhaps, bring us back home.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 2 is currently in production, and it recently shot some scenes on the supercarrier the USS George H.W. Bush. Now, writer and director Christopher McQuarrie has announced that Ted Lassos Hannah Waddingham has joined the cast and he shared a photo of her from the set of the film at the supercarrier.

The photo came with the caption, #GodSpeed #DeadReckoning. There no word on who exactly shes playing, but judging from the photo of her looking stoic, it looks like she is a person in a leadership position that wields a good amount of power.

Waddingham joins Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, and Henry Czerny along with newcomers Shea Whigham (Joker), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Infinity War) and Esai Morales (La Bamba, Titans), Charles Parnell, Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes (Saw). Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds, Albert Nobbs), and Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Nightmare Alley).
