Main points to cover in research paper?

So I"m writing a 10 page research paper on Joseph Stalin and there is so much info on him i"m not sure what"s important and what"s not anymore. And also what would be a good thesis? Mine right now is how he affected the soviet Union and the world during and after WWII, but I"m not sure if that"s good enough. thanks in advance! :)

That way too vast a topic. I would narrow it down considerably: perhaps, look at the impact of collectivization-- what role did it play in Stalins Soviet Union? Or you could look at the purge, and what were reasons for why he did it?
