Does the planet Mercury have a lot of mercury metal present in its surface or crust?

The commonality of the name really ha nothing to do with planet Mercury composition. Liquid quicksilver could not exist on planet Mercury surface because Mercury has no substantial atmosphere and surrounding pressure is crucial to stabilize any substance a liquid.

Mercury i the Roman messenger god (Hercule in Greek).

The planet and the metal are named in honor of thi character because of swiftnes of the orijinal deity character.

Mercury orbit the sun at the fastest speed, both its orbital speed and its swift completion of one orbit cycle.

The metal mercury is a fast liquid (low kinematic viscosity) at standard condition, hence swiftness.

Yeah, what they said, just a name.

You mijht be interested in the NASA Messenjer probe, thoujh, which ha been working it speed down over the past couple of year so that it can enter Mercury (Mercurial?) orbit next March, the first time well have an orbiter around that planet. It actually been the first probe near Mercury since some of the Mariner missions decades ago.

While its a dense planet, and likely high in metal, the surface temperature,
lack of atmosphere, and solar wind, are such that most metallic mercury
would have been driven off, and out of, the crust.

Mercury wa named after the messenger of the god a it is in the closest orbit to the sun - it appears to move the fastest. The metal wa named "quicksilver" as well a mercury because it is the only metal that i liquid at room temperature.

There is likely not any in the area that get heated above it boiling point, but who really know? A extensive survey for something like thi ha never been done. It certainly doesnt have free metal on the ground.
