is aqueous a state of matter? if not why do we use it as a "state" symbol?

If the answer is yes, there has to be six states of matter,

Solid,
liquid
Gas
Plasma
BECs
Aqueous

No, it i not .

Aqueou concerns solutions and not substances

I suppose liquid would be better

I suspect that answer is at least slightly wrong. Some more possible states of matter are vapor, white star stuff neutron star stuff and quark star stuff. Ionized gas i quite different from neutral gas, and plasma can have one missing electron or all the electron can be detached.

States of matter refer to pure substances. An aqueous solution i a mixture, not a pure substance. We write the subscript (aq) for aqueous solutions because it make visualizing the reaction easier. It keeps track of the solubilitie of the compounds in the reactions. So no it i not a state of matter, but they are important to write in chemical reaction. Hope thi help!
