When n=4 there can be four sublevels. The quantum number which indicates the sublevel is the azimuthal quantum number, . The values of range from zero to n-1. So when n=4, can have value of 0, 1, 2, and 3 which correspond to the s, p, d and f sublevel. These contain a total of 16 orbitals and up to 32 electron.
