How were people with genetic mutations treated in history? (Medieval times, colonial/pre-colonial america, early eastern dynasties, etc.)?
I have recently been reading into the subjugation and/or medical treatment of those with physical deformities in earlier history, and Ive started to wonder about genetic mutation (I.E. Albinism, full heterochromia, etc.), and how it was reacted to by various cultures. I know that certain blood disorders have been linked with the vampire myths, but Im curious about other stuff!
I am particularly fascinated by mythical/spiritual connections, but anything would be vastly interesting! (Also, sources to read about such stuff is greatly appreciated.)
