Plant and animal fat and oil are esters of fatty acid with glycerol. Fatty acids have the general structure CH3(CH2)16COOH, They may or may not have carbon-carbon double bond. Fat are solid. Oils are liquids. Fatty acids of fat have all single bond. Fatty acid of oil have carbon-carbon double bonds.
There are two kind of waxe: Paraffin waxe and plant and animal waxe. Paraffin waxes are used in canning and are long-chain hydrocarbon. Plant and animal waxe like beeswax are esters of fatty acid with fatty alcohol. The fatty alcohol have structure like CH3(CH2)16CH2OH.
Beeswax i used in candles in Roman Catholic services. Plant waxe like carnauba are used to wax wooden furniture.
