I have no conflict, since I am Pagan, and the afterlife is a part of almost every Pagan path. The majority believe in reincarnation, and if the soul is not reborn into a new body, then it has choices of going to someplace that their path says they should belong (for example: Summerland for Wiccans, Valhalla for Asatru, the Underworld for Hellenics), or they continue to wander the earth as ghosts until they can make the decision to move on.
It is the wandering souls that are known to us as ghosts, and we try and communicate with them, not just to learn about them and their past life, but to possibly help them make the decision to move on. Pagans and Witches do not summon these ghosts for any demonic purpose (that is total bs, since most don"t even believe in demons), as many of the top Christian contributors keep posting on this section; on the contrary, we are more interested in helping them move onto a more peaceful existence.
Ghosts/spirits, reincarnation, past lives, the afterlife - all Pagan beliefs that are dealt with in a positive manner.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from Dr. Nice Guy - Speaking only of Christians, you can"t. One can either follow the tenets of their religion or not. If they decide to not follow, they are not members in good standing. Of course a fallen church member can repent and return to a state of grace. How does one repent the sin of ghost hunting Do they admit to hunting and finding ghosts Things the Bible says do not exist. Wouldn"t that in itself be a sin Disputing the holy word of the bible. Or admit to lying about the whole thing. In religion, you can"t rationalize, you"re either in or out. A Christian ghost hunter or psychic or medium or empath, It"s impossible to be both. That"s just the way it is. Strange how those of us outside religion understand it"s teachings, and so many who think they"re inside don"t.
-----Thank you sir for making a wonderful point, and therefore, if they post misinformation about the tenets of a non-Christian ghost hunter; well they are no better than we are, since they are going against the tenets of their own faith.
