 Post subject: Homopolar motor fail?

Ok, so I tried building one of those simple homopolar motors with a AA battery, copper wire and some magnets. Any suggestions why I barely get mine to chirp while the ones Ive seen spin flawlessly?
Using 14-2 romex copper ground and small very strong disk magnets.
