Hey all,
I currently live in --and grew up around-- Hunts Point. I'm not going to go into the "it's made so much progress blah blah" spiel. The area still sucks, but as much as I hate it, I've never been robbed, attacked, or gotten into any altercation here. Now the area isn't exactly a haven, but I feel relatively safe here, despite the awful conditions.
What are some other areas in the NYC that are ghetto, but not so ghetto you'll get shanked or robbed or anything? With a decent low-rent:crime ratio? I don't really care about hip coffee shops and lounges.
