A concentrated solution of CuCl was electrolyzed by using inert electrodes. Observation:
1. Aft 10mins, a pink color substance was deposited on one electrode and a gas which can bleach moist litmus paper was evolved at the other electrode.
2. Aft 1hr, the same products were formed but the solution became paler.
3. Aft 2hrs, the pink color substance was no longer deposited; instead, colorless gas evolved at both electrodes.

(i) Give the formulae of all the ions present in CuCl bfr electrolysis.
(ii) Why did the color of solution fade?
(iii)
a. At which electrode was the pink color substance deposited...give 1 relevant equation.
b. Which gas is the 1st evolved at the other electrode? Give one relevant equation.
(iv) Show the half eqn for 2 gases produced aft 2hrs at each electrode.
