Personally I think robotics is an advanced form of technology but there are those who say its simple compared to other more esoteric fields. As to the most advanced form of technology, I would vote for nanotechnology used in medical applications. To learn more about this emerging field, I highly recommend the book, "Fantastic Voyage" by Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman.

Automated machine learning and automated machine understanding of what is spoken are far more challenging than robotics.
