Lol I wa reading this and listening to an all instrumental rave song, then all of the sudden it goe "THERES INTELLIGENT LIFE OUT THERE" lololol. Im pretty creeped out right now...
Anyway yes, depending on how easily life can form it can be very likely. The Drake Equation which base it result on the estimated number of stars with systems and how many of those planets are habitable predict there are ~10,000 intelligent civilizations in the Milky Way.
Of course we arent sure if life wa an accident for us, or if it i promoted throughout the universe. Maybe it something that bound to happen, maybe it happens in lots of different way. Maybe even in the perfect condition it is non-existant.
We have found at least one habitable planet about 20 ly away called Gliese 581 g which sits in the Goldy Locs zone and is a crusty like Earth. 20 ly i right in our cosmic backyard.
The first step is to discover simple life, and there i a lot of potential in our own solar system. If we find life elsewhere in our solar system it would mean life is not just an accident. Now I dont know how plausible thi i but I imagine the possibility of a meteor shower filled with micro raining down on our solar system, in which case the micro evolved separate of eachother on each planet but were really all related. This would mean that maybe life is still unique, but at least we would know that it can endure a lot more than we thought possible. Just a thought.
My location of interest for any life in the solar system would be in the theoretical ocean of Europa, Jupiters moon. If funded, a mission will be launched to Europa in 2020
I believe that we can have the ability to travel at the speed of light in less than 5,000 year. Basically we just need to solve the energy problem, which Im sure we will by then. Maybe i a few centuries to a thousand years
