ConocoPhillips plans further capex reduction for deepwater exploration

ConocoPhillips reported plans to further reduce its capital expenditures for deepwater exploration, with the most distinctive reductions coming from its operated program in the Gulf of Mexico. The company did not specify by how much capex would be decreased, however.

Recent actions of two exploration and production companies have pushed the trailing 12-month energy default rate among issuers of high-yield bonds tracked by Fitch Ratings to 2.6%, well above the long-term average of 1.9%.

Fire hits Shells integrated processing operations in Singapore

Royal Dutch Shell PLC has extinguished a fire that occurred at one of the units at the companys Pulau Bukom manufacturing site on Bukom Island, Singapore, which includes a 500,000-b/d refinery, 1 million-tonne/year (tpy) ethylene cracker complex (ECC), and 155,000-tpy butadiene extraction plant.

US farmer-owned cooperative CHS Inc., Inver Grove Heights, Minn., has completed its purchase of National Cooperative Refinery Associations refinery and related operations at McPherson, Kan., to take full ownership of the assets.

Hovensa enters negotiate for sale of St. Croix refining assets, files for bankruptcy

Hovensa LLC, the joint venture of Hess Corp. and Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), has entered a negotiate to sell terminal assets connected to its idled 500,000-b/d refinery on the island of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
